Who Moved My Cheese?: An A-Mazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life

The Only Constant in Life is Change

We live in an ever-changing world. The only constant is change and 2020 has been a great example of how fast change happens. No matter how difficult or unpredictable the challenge ahead, be ready to change. What worked prior to the pandemic may not work afterwards. The terrain along the road to success is ever-changing and you must be willing to adapt. Be open, flexible, and mindful. An open mindset emanates new opportunity. Only when one is ready to change, does the viewpoint appear distinctive and the opportunities become more apparent. Decaying and stagnant minds cannot generate new ideas and concepts.

Never Take Life for Granted

Humans are creatures of habit, just as the mice in the story. Once a being attains a certain thing, one usually begins to take it for granted, sometimes even becoming reliant on it. For example, many take a significant other for granted in a given relationship. This is an ideal formula for a soon to be unsuccessful endeavor. Losing a significant other after taking them for granted is a terrible feeling many know firsthand. Do not take these individuals for granted or become contingent upon them. When these folks depart, so does a part of one’s heart and soul.

Many become reliant on their employment and feel the occupation will be exist no matter the circumstance. This type of mindset does not work either. Job security is not evident during these challenging times. Many have spent countless years of service at one firm and are currently unemployed, seeking other roles. It is important to be mindful and practice gratitude. Never become overly reliant on anything and never take such for granted. Give thanks for what transpired in the past. Look at the present day with more mindfulness and understanding.

There is Time to Make a Change

No matter the point in life, it is never too late to make a change. Even during dire times, there is ample time and opportunity to make a positive change. Seek and go after it. 2020 has brought much disruption and agony. At the same time, there have been opportunities for those willing and able. Changing one’s mindset in the start. Being proactive is a necessity. There comes a time where what worked beforehand will not work nowadays. Acknowledge the fact that this is the world at the moment. Do not be fearful. Anticipate the change. New paths and actions will be required in order to create momentum and attain achievement.

Quotes that Create Change

There are plenty of strong quotes in this tale. The following are two of my favorites. These two are powerful and hold much significance.

· What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

· If you do not change, you can become extinct!

Both quotes speak to the importance of taking action. Again, it comes down to one’s mindset. Where is the mindset at this moment? Afraid to take on the world? Fearful of failure? Afraid to tell another your feelings? Step back and ask the following: “What would you do if you weren’t afraid? Powerful words that can change a life immediately.

The only inevitability in an uncertain world is the uncertainty. Embrace the ups, downs, and everything in-between. All experiences are required for those taking part in the game of life. Change is happening with or with one’s permission. On the road to change? If not, one is not growing, evolving, or developing. In essence, one is retreating and will become extinct. Agree or disagree, like it or not, one must act. Not taking action is not an option.
