Developing Certainty Within
Despite the fear and confusion all around, there is much certainty amid these so-called uncertain times. A state of worry has absorbed the air and as a result, many have struggled psychologically. The mental distress is all too real, an additional challenge on top of ordinary struggles. Depression and anxiety are clear as daylight. All are human and all take part in the torment.
While these topics are not virally appealing, nor are they strong selling points, I believe they deserve to be front and center in all that we do going forward. There is little development where there is much worry. A state of depression is paralyzing and anxiety is detrimental yet it does not have to be.
Where do we start? Start with certainty.
To be human is to feel sensations. To encounter many types of emotions is a blessing, not a burden. One of the coolest features of existence is having the ability to experience various emotions. We have the choice to view any feeling in whatever capacity our mind decides. Our mindset is powerful because we alone decide what our feelings mean. Certainty is evident, placed directly on one’s shoulder.
We always have a choice in the face of hardship and danger. The same is said during joyful and happy times. We decide what these sensations mean to us. We create the feeling within and set the tone for our daily affairs. Do not overlook this all-important choice because it directly impacts your overall wellness. What appears as a devastating experience and feeling one day can be seen as a blessing the next. Take ownership in viewing a situation or experience. Never leave it up for chance. Adjectives are important, choose wisely.
When people lack clarity or direction, they look to the crowd for directions. Humans are programmed by default to view the behavior of the masses and follow. So called “social proof” is a shortcut to determine how to act. While social proof is a sensible option, it is not required. We must become more mindful and present. Our perception and the significance we assign to a given situation matters. For example, during this untypical summer, we can either view the time as wasted or as an opportunity where time was utilized effectively. We can either view the days as lame or eventful. Things are different in 2020 when compared to 2019 yet we still have the same 24 hours in each day. We make our own happiness.
You are not alone because many lack convictions. My goal in this lifestyle blog is to shift the mindset to become more conscious. There is simply too much pessimism and fear floating around. The negative energy breeds more negative energy and that is a severe impediment for a better life. The process towards a healthier, more vibrant, and uplifting life is a slow-moving train, not a speeding bullet. Patience and self-kindness will be required.
Always remember, you already own certainty. It resides within you. Today more than ever people are inundated from external forces as well as the internal. One cannot always control the outside forces, but one can constantly control the inner. There is always certainty within. Not sure where to start?
